Two hosts advertise an "8 GB RedM server" at the same price. On the first, your Saturday night RP session runs like velvet; on the second, it stutters the moment a robbery gathers fifteen players. Price and RAM tell you almost nothing: what counts is what's under the hood. Let's break it down.
Why CPU frequency comes before everything
Like FiveM, RedM runs the game logic largely single-core: a single main thread absorbs most of the VORP scripts. As a result, a high-frequency processor like the Ryzen 9 7950X3D holds far more players than an old 20-core Xeon that's low on GHz. Don't be seduced by a big core count: look at the frequency per core.
RAM: just what VORP needs
- 4 GB: a VORP server among friends, a handful of resources.
- 6 to 8 GB: an active RP community, many jobs and 30+ players.
- 12 GB and up: a large server, a fleshed-out map, a complex economy.
Beyond that, adding RAM doesn't fix a slow CPU: memory prevents the crash, frequency prevents the lag.
NVMe, underrated but noticeable
A RedM server loads dozens of resources at startup and queries MySQL non-stop. NVMe storage shortens restarts and smooths out VORP queries where an HDD keeps everyone waiting on reconnect.
Anti-DDoS and panel: the non-negotiables
