Choosing your Sons of the Forest host without getting it wrong

On a pricing page, two Sons of the Forest hosts look like two peas in a pod. It's in the middle of a cannibal attack, with 8 in the same cave, that they stop looking alike. Here are the criteria ranked by their real impact on your experience, not by marketing order.
CPU frequency before anything else
Sons of the Forest is a demanding single-thread game: mutant AI, tree physics and world simulation pull mostly on one or two heavily-taxed cores. A high-frequency processor like the Ryzen 9 7950X3D takes it in stride where a slow shared CPU collapses. This is criterion number one, far ahead of everything else.
RAM sized for 8
- At 2-4 players on a young island, consumption stays modest.
- At 8 players, with a widely explored world and a large base, memory climbs: you need headroom to avoid the stutters.
Anti-DDoS: included, not an option
A server that gathers a crowd eventually attracts an attack. Permanent Anti-DDoS protection included in the plan (not billed separately) is what keeps the island reachable while the session is in full swing.
The panel that saves you hours
Check that the panel edits dedicatedserver.cfg from the interface, shows the console and logs live, schedules the saves and gives file access. That's precisely FlyPanel's role; the detail of the settings is in How to configure a Sons of the Forest server.
Delivery and support, the tiebreaker
An instant delivery and responsive support turn an evening incident into a mere pause. That's often what sets a good offer apart from a cheap one.
If you only remember one thing: a fast CPU covers 80% of smoothness problems. The rest protects you and saves you time.
