Mods transform 7 Days to Die: new weapons, classes, enemies, complete overhauls. Some are simple additions, others massive overhauls like Darkness Falls or Undead Legacy. Here is how to install them on your server, by hand and then in 1 click.

1. Choose your mods

Get your mods from recognized sources (Nexus Mods, the creators' official repositories). Check that they are compatible with your version of 7 Days to Die: a mod made for an older version can prevent the server from starting.

2. Drop the mods into the Mods folder

Place each mod in the server's Mods/ folder (via WebFTP or the panel's file explorer), respecting the folder structure indicated by the creator, then restart the server.

3. Sync on the client side

Most big mods (Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy) must be installed identically on the server AND on the players' side. Each member must install the same mod locally, otherwise the connection fails. Communicate the exact version to your community.

4. Check and adjust

After the first launch, watch the console and the logs: an incompatible mod flags itself there immediately. Also remember to adjust your serverconfig.xml: some overhauls change the difficulty and the blood moon (see How to configure a 7 Days to Die server).

Install mods one by one and test: an incompatible mod can prevent the server from starting. If something goes wrong, remove the last one added.

The 1-click version

The FlyPanel on our 7 Days to Die servers lets you install popular mods in one click, without handling files, and manage backups before a big overhaul. A real time-saver when running a community.
