Frequently asked questions

This page gathers the questions that apply to every plan we sell: ordering and paying, receiving your server, the hardware that runs it, day-to-day management and support. Questions specific to one game or one VPS range are answered on that plan's own page.

Ordering and paying

Am I tied into a contract?

No. Every plan is commitment-free: you pay for the period you chose, and you decide whether to renew when it ends. Picking a longer period does not lock you in either — it simply applies a discount to the monthly price. There is no setup fee and no cancellation penalty.

What discount applies to each billing period?

The discount applies to the monthly price and depends on how far ahead you pay: 3 months : −5 % · 6 months : −10 % · 12 months : −20 %. It is the same across every product — game servers, VPS and Discord bot hosting — and the price shown on each page already reflects the period you selected.

Do the prices shown include tax?

Yes. Every price on the site is tax included: the amount you see is the amount you pay. That is a deliberate choice, because a private customer cannot reclaim VAT, and an ex-tax price would give them a false idea of what leaves their account.

Can I pay in my own currency?

Prices are shown in your market's currency (euro, pound sterling, złoty, real, rouble) so that you get an accurate sense of the cost. Billing itself is in euros: your bank applies its exchange rate at the time of payment. The exact euro amount is shown again before you confirm the order.

Can I move to another plan mid-subscription?

Yes, without losing any data. Moving up keeps the world, the mods, the plugins and the settings: only the allocated memory changes, and the server restarts once. That is the normal way to follow a community as it grows, rather than over-sizing from day one.

Do I get a refund if I stop mid-period?

No. Our terms apply article L.121-21-8 of the French consumer code: for a digital service that starts immediately, the customer expressly waives the right of withdrawal when confirming the order. The period already started therefore remains due. That is also why we offer short periods: starting monthly lets you try without risk.

Getting your server running

How long does it take to get my server?

Usually under a minute after payment: creation is automatic, and your credentials arrive by e-mail as soon as the server is ready. Our terms state an upper limit of 96 working hours to cover exceptional cases — payment verification, an incident — but that is not the delay you will experience.

Do I need to install anything on my computer?

No. Everything runs from the browser through FlyPanel: start, stop, files, console, backups. All you need is the game itself to connect to your server, like any other player. For a VPS, you connect over SSH (Linux) or remote desktop (Windows), with the tools your own system already provides.

How do my players join the server?

You give them the IP address and port shown in FlyPanel, which they enter in the game's multiplayer menu. Nothing to install on their side, and no Fly-Serv account to create: only you, the owner, have an account with us.

Can I migrate an existing server to you?

Yes. A game world is a folder of files: you upload it through FlyPanel, either with the file manager or over SFTP, and restart. Worlds, plugins, configurations and databases all transfer the same way. If you are unsure which files to take, support will tell you which ones your game needs.

Hardware and performance

What hardware runs the servers?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processors, DDR5 ECC memory and NVMe storage. That choice is not cosmetic: most game servers compute the world on a single core, so the speed of one core matters more than how many there are. That is exactly what this chip delivers.

Where are the servers hosted?

The VPS plans are hosted in a French datacentre, in Paris (Telehouse). Game servers are in France, with a German location offered at checkout for German-speaking communities. Location matters: every thousand kilometres adds a few milliseconds of latency, which players feel in a fast-paced game.

Is DDoS protection really included?

Yes, on every plan, with no surcharge and no box to tick. Filtering covers network attacks, which saturate bandwidth, and application attacks, which imitate real players to exhaust the server. Community game servers are frequent targets, especially at launch and during rivalries between communities.

How do I know how much RAM I need?

It depends on the game, the number of players and the mods — a vanilla Minecraft server for ten players fits in 4 GB, the same server with a large modpack needs 16. We publish a sizing guide per game, with a players-to-memory table, and you can change plan at any time if the estimate turns out to be low.

Running your server day to day

What is FlyPanel?

It is our control panel, included with every game server. From it you start and restart the server, read the live console, edit configuration files, install mods or plugins, manage backups and schedule automatic restarts. It runs in a browser, with nothing to install.

Can I install any mods and plugins I want?

Yes. You have access to the server files, so manual installation is possible, and the most common mods and plugins install in a few clicks from FlyPanel. That is the main difference with a locked-down server rental: nothing confines you to an imposed catalogue.

Is my data backed up?

You can trigger a manual backup at any time from FlyPanel, and the Backup add-on automates regular ones. We recommend enabling it on any server carrying a world built over time: a month-old backup is no substitute for last night's.

Can I give someone else access?

Yes. You can hand FlyPanel access to an administrator in your community without giving them access to your customer account or your payment details, which stay separate. That is the right practice as soon as a team runs the server together.

Support and security

How do I contact support?

By ticket from your client area, by e-mail at [email protected], or on our Discord, where part of the community and of the team can be found. The ticket remains the route to prefer for anything touching your account or your billing, because it is attached to your file.

Which languages does support answer in?

French and English. The site is translated into seven languages and you order in your own language, but support itself is provided in French and English: better to say so than to let you find out with your first ticket.

What should I do if my server no longer starts?

Read the console in FlyPanel first: the line before the shutdown almost always gives the cause, most often a mod made incompatible by a game update. Remove the last thing you added, restart, and if the server comes back it was the culprit. If the console says nothing useful, open a ticket with those lines.

Who operates Fly-Serv?

Fly-Serv is operated by NEXUS GAMES SAS, a French company registered with the Rennes trade register, whose head office is at 127 avenue Aristide Briand, 35000 Rennes, France. The legal notice lists the company number, the director and the infrastructure host.

A question about your game or your VPS?

Every plan page has its own FAQ, with the answers that only apply there: supported versions, mods, slots, configuration.
