Group of friends playing Minecraft together on a rented server, with a pricing plan on screen

Chez Fly-Serv, the Minecraft server cost runs from €2.99 to €39.99 a month (roughly £2.48 to £33), and it depends on RAM, not on player count. The price climbs with what you install. Vanilla, plugins and modpacks need different plans, from the entry tier up to €39.99 a month. Discounts reach 20% on a 12-month term.

So the right price depends on what you put on the server, not on how many friends you invite. Here is how to place your own case in about a minute.

Fly-Serv prices are set in euros. The pound figures below are approximate conversions (about £0.83 per €1), so check the final amount at checkout.

In short

  • Plans run from €2.99 to €39.99 a month including VAT (about £2.48 to £33), with no minimum term and unlimited player slots.
  • Vanilla with friends, plugins and a light modpack each need a different RAM tier. Check the exact prices on the order page.
  • Paying 12 months upfront takes 20% off the monthly price.
  • Realms is enough for two or three players without mods. Beyond that, renting is more flexible.

Minecraft server cost: the short answer

On the Minecraft Server Hosting page, plans are tiered by the RAM you choose. The prices in this guide are monthly prices including VAT, noted at the time of writing. They can change, so check them when you order.

Here are the rough ranges for the setups Fly-Serv recommends:

  • Vanilla with friends: a small plan is often enough. Check the price on the order page.
  • Plugins (Paper, Spigot): the price depends on the RAM tier you pick on the order page.
  • Modpack: the price follows the RAM tier the pack demands, up to €39.99 a month (about £33) for the largest plans.

What drives the price: RAM, not player slots

Pricing follows the resources allocated: RAM, CPU and storage. At Fly-Serv, player slots are unlimited, so nobody bills you for the tenth or the thirtieth player. An 8 GB server costs the same with 5 players online or 30. The only limit is the machine itself. Put too many people on too little RAM and the TPS drops.

Every plan runs on the same hardware: Ryzen 9 7950X3D, DDR5 ECC RAM, NVMe drives and Anti-DDoS included. A low entry price does not mean bargain-bin kit. Minecraft leans mostly on the speed of a single core, and that is exactly where a 5.7 GHz processor earns its keep. To go further, see what really drives game server performance.

Player count

The RAM tier depends on your player count, your plugins and your modpack, so compare the resources of each plan on the order page. For a small vanilla group, an entry plan may do the job. Check how much RAM it includes before you commit.

View distance weighs as much as the number of players. The higher it is, the more chunks the server has to load. Ten players scattered across the four corners of the map cost more memory than twenty players living in the same base. Our guide to how much RAM a Minecraft server needs covers these cases.

Java or Bedrock

Fly-Serv hosts both editions, and the pricing page shows a single Minecraft grid with no price difference between them. Confirm this on the order page. Bedrock Dedicated Server is generally lighter on RAM. Java uses more, but it opens the door to plugins and mods.

To let Bedrock players join a Java server, you use Geyser, a plugin installed on a Paper server. We have not checked whether it installs in one click in FlyPanel.

Vanilla, plugins or modpack

The more content you add, the more RAM you need. Paper or Purpur with a few plugins stays reasonable, and so does a light Fabric setup. With a Forge or NeoForge modpack you change scale: a modpack needs noticeably more RAM than vanilla, so its plan costs more. CurseForge modpacks install in one click from FlyPanel, which spares you the most tedious part.

The classic trap is renting too little RAM for a modpack, then watching the server crawl at startup. Aim for the RAM tier the pack recommends.

Table: what budget for your setup

If in doubt, start one plan lower and move up later. Each RAM tier matches an offer, but check with the team that switching keeps your world intact. You will find the plans on the Minecraft Server Hosting page.

Use Players Recommended RAM Plan Price per month Price per month on 12 months
Vanilla, small group 2 to 5 see order page Entry €2.99 (about £2.48) €2.39 (about £1.98)

Big modpack (All The Mods, RLCraft) 50 and over Highest tier Highest tier €39.99 (about £33.19) €31.99 (about £26.55)

The 12-month prices apply the 20% discount and are rounded to the nearest cent.

Worked example: how much to play with 10 friends?

Case 1, vanilla or light Paper. Ten friends fit on a small vanilla plan, and its monthly price is on the order page. Over 12 months, the 20% discount applies to that price. Once the server is rented, you still need to configure your vanilla Minecraft server: whitelist, difficulty, view distance.

Case 2, CurseForge modpack. A modpack plan costs more per player than vanilla, so check its price on the order page. The 20% discount on a 12-month term still applies. Split between friends, though, the bill stays modest.

Paying for 3, 6 or 12 months: how much you save

Discounts are 5% on 3 months, 10% on 6 months and 20% on 12 months. See all Fly-Serv pricing for the detail per offer.

  • Any Minecraft plan: the discounts apply to the plan's monthly price (check it on the order page): 5% off on 3 months, 10% on 6 months, 20% on 12 months.

Our advice: start month to month, with no commitment, to check that the RAM holds up. Move to 12 months once the server is stable. We could not confirm the renewal price, so look at it before you validate your order.

Options and extra costs to plan for

  • Backup, +€1.99 a month (about £1.65): useful if your world represents dozens of hours of play. FlyPanel already includes backups and restores, so compare it with the option before paying for it.
  • Advanced Anti-DDoS, from +€2.99 to +€4.99 a month (about £2.48 to £4.14): unnecessary among friends, since basic Anti-DDoS is included. Worth considering for a public, listed server.
  • Setup fees: none announced, and delivery takes under 60 seconds.

Take the cheapest Minecraft plan at €2.99 a month with Backup: 2.99 + 1.99 = €4.98 a month (about £4.13). Add advanced Anti-DDoS at the lowest rate and you reach €7.97 a month (about £6.62). These sums count the options at full price, because we have not checked whether the discounts apply to them.

Renting, Realms or a server on your own PC: an honest comparison

Realms first. It is simple. According to GamesRadar, Realms for Bedrock was £3.29 a month for you plus two other players, and Realms Plus was £6.69 for up to ten others. Java Realms was also listed at £6.69 for ten other players. Those figures are a couple of years old, so check the current price in the game before you rely on them. Java Realms cannot use add-ons or mods, according to Windows Central. For a small Bedrock group without mods, Realms can be enough, and it is often the easiest choice.

Your own PC looks free. Yet it has to stay on around the clock, you pay for the electricity, you open ports on your router and you expose your IP address to attacks. It also shares its performance with your own game.

Renting gives you a fixed price, 24/7 availability, plugins and mods, and Anti-DDoS protection. Entry-level plans across the market cost a few pounds a month, and modpack plans cost noticeably more. That is not a formal survey, so compare for yourself.
