GameSetting.ini decoded: tuning your Soulmask server line by line

Two identically installed Soulmask servers can offer two radically different experiences. It all comes down to a text file generated on the first launch: GameSetting.ini. Difficulty, pace of progression, the place of servants within your tribe: it's the one that decides. Here's how to tame it without breaking your game, on your dedicated Soulmask server.

Where the file lives and how to edit it

The file appears in the server's save folder after its first startup. Golden rule before anything else: stop the server before editing, otherwise your changes will be overwritten on shutdown. You edit, you save, you restart.

The settings that change everything

Capacity and game framework

  • Player slots: Soulmask handles large numbers, up to around 50 players. Only raise this figure in line with your available RAM.
  • PvP or PvE: this choice defines the soul of the server, player-vs-player combat allowed or pure cooperation.
  • Password: essential to keep a game among friends safe from intruders.

Pace and survival

  • Harvest and crafting multipliers: keep them at ×1 for a real challenge, raise them for gentler progression in a small group.
  • Difficulty, hunger, thirst, wildlife aggression: the slider between a stroll and a struggle for survival.

The heart of the game: the servants

Soulmask stands out with its servant system: Barbarians captured and then assigned to workstations. Several settings influence their behaviour and efficiency: it's the setting most specific to this game, and the one that most deserves testing.

Protecting dozens of hours of play

A tribe base represents a colossal investment of time. Enable frequent automatic saves: one file corruption without a backup, and the whole camp is gone.

Change only one setting at a time, restart, test in game. Modifying ten lines at once makes it impossible to identify which one broke the balance or crashed the server.

Careful not to set beyond your means

Every open slot and every active servant weighs the simulation down. Pushing to 50 players on a weak CPU guarantees lag. A high-frequency processor like the Ryzen 9 7950X3D absorbs this load, a criterion detailed in our comparison to help you choose the right Soulmask host.

Editing without the command line

On a Soulmask server hosted at Fly-Serv, FlyPanel exposes these settings in a readable interface: you change the slots or the rates and restart in one click, without ever opening the file by hand. If the server isn't created yet, start with the two methods for creating a Soulmask server. Our plans start at €11.99/month.
