Hytale server hosting: the short answer
To choose Hytale server hosting, check six things: RAM matched to your players and mods, a processor with fast single-core speed, simple mod installation, permanent Anti-DDoS protection, a datacentre close to your players, and pricing with no lock-in. Each one comes down to a single question you can put to the host.
Hytale launched in early access on 13 January 2026. Its server is a Java program with its own demands, and they differ from those of a Minecraft server.
In brief
- Java 25 is required for the server. RAM depends mostly on player count and mods, so check the official server manual.
- CPU matters as much as RAM: one fast core prevents dropped ticks.
- A public server attracts attacks on its UDP port, which is why protection should be always on.
- Budget depends on RAM and player count. Fly-Serv has no minimum term, and the details are on its pricing page.
Six criteria make the difference. RAM should fit your players and your mods. The CPU should deliver high clock speed on a single core. Mods should install without fiddling about. Anti-DDoS should run all the time and handle UDP traffic. The datacentre should sit near your players. And the price should be clear, with no commitment. For the criteria that apply to every game, see our guide on how to choose a game server host.
1. RAM: size it to your players and mods
Real consumption depends mostly on how your players behave and which mods you run.
Work from your own numbers: the player count you expect at peak times and the mods you plan to run.
Start tight, watch memory use in the console during a busy evening, then move up a tier if you need to. Lowering the view distance takes pressure off RAM without changing plan. Whatever the game, the principle of sizing RAM to real usage rather than guesswork holds.
Question to ask: which RAM tiers are on offer, and can you change tier without reinstalling? At Fly-Serv, DDR5 ECC memory limits memory errors. Check the plan page for the tiers available and how to switch between them.
2. CPU: why single-core power matters
The game loop (ticks, world, entities, NPC behaviour) leans heavily on one main core. Sixteen slow cores therefore help less than a single fast one. When the processor struggles, the server drops ticks: mobs stutter, hits don't register, and it happens even with 16 GB of RAM.
Look for a high clock speed and a large L3 cache. A Ryzen 9 7950X3D boosts to 5.7 GHz and carries 128 MB of V-Cache. In practice, chunk generation stays smooth when a player sets off exploring, and fights keep their rhythm. Our piece on what really drives game server performance explains the method in more detail.
Question to ask: which exact CPU model is it, and is the hardware recent or recycled? Fly-Serv states Ryzen 9 7950X3D, DDR5 ECC and Gen4 NVMe.
3. Mods and plugins: installation and compatibility
Hytale is built with server-side modding in mind. According to CurseForge, there are content packs and Java plugins. The idea is that your players join a modded server without installing anything on their own machines. Files go into the mods folder inside the server's Server folder.
Be wary of updates. During early access, a patch can break a mod, and CurseForge notes that server-side version checks can stop a server from starting.
Check that your host provides:
- file access (WebFTP or FTP);
- one-click installation;
- a live console and logs;
- a backup before every update, with restore.
FlyPanel offers a live console, one-click mod installs, logs and backups. The Backup option costs €1.99/month. On a modded server, we think it pays for itself the first time an update breaks something.
4. Anti-DDoS: essential once the server is public
A server that is listed, announced on Discord or placed in a ranking attracts attacks, especially on event nights. Hytale uses QUIC over UDP, with port 5520 by default. UDP is easier to hit with floods, so protection has to be running permanently, not switched on after the damage is done.
Fly-Serv includes Anti-DDoS, with a two-layer firewall (XDP/eBPF + nftables) that you can configure from the panel. An advanced Anti-DDoS option is available from €2.99/month, depending on the plan. For a small private server among friends, the standard protection is usually enough.
Question to ask: is the protection always active, and does it filter UDP?
5. Location: a datacentre close to your players
For players in the UK, a datacentre in the UK or Western Europe gives you a lower ping. You feel it in PvP and combat, much less when building. There's no magic number to chase: a server on the other side of the Atlantic is clearly less comfortable, and that is enough to decide.
Support matters as much as ping. Look for a team with clear opening hours, a channel you actually use such as Discord, and transparent terms on billing currency and data protection. Fly-Serv is a French host with a French-speaking team reachable on Discord. Before ordering, confirm the datacentre location, the support hours and the languages supported on the plan page.
6. Price: what a Hytale server costs per month
Budget depends on RAM and player count. At Fly-Serv, the offer has no minimum term and unlimited slots.
Points to check:
- commitment: none, ideally;
- slots: unlimited or capped;
- paid extras: Backup, advanced Anti-DDoS;
- discounts by length: -5% over 3 months, -10% over 6 months, -20% over 12 months (see pricing and term discounts).
The Backup option adds €1.99 a month before any discount. Full details are on the Hytale server hosting page.
Free server, home PC or host: which to choose?
Hosting from your own PC is possible, but you have to forward the UDP port on your router, which exposes your home IP address. The PC must stay on, and your upload speed caps the number of players. For a community that wants a stable server, Fly-Serv's Hytale offer removes those constraints: the server is delivered in under 60 seconds, with no commitment. For a couple of test evenings with friends, self-hosting does the job. For a community, it doesn't. Our guide compares self-hosting and a game server host.
Checklist: the 6 questions to ask before you rent
- How many GB of RAM for my number of players?
- Which exact CPU, and at what clock speed?
- One-click mods and backups before updates?
- Permanent Anti-DDoS with UDP filtering?
- A datacentre near my players, and support I can reach?
- A price with no commitment, extras included?
If the answers suit you, ordering takes under a minute: the Hytale offer is delivered in under 60 seconds.
Frequently asked questions
How much RAM does a Hytale server need for a given number of players?
We couldn't verify an official minimum. Start from your expected peak player count and mod list, then watch memory use in the console and adjust.
Why does single-core CPU power matter for Hytale?
The game loop depends largely on one main core. If that core is slow, the server drops ticks and the game lags, even with plenty of RAM. A high clock speed and a large L3 cache are good markers.
Should a Hytale host make mod installation easy?
Yes. File access, one-click installs, a live console and backups save you from losing an evening when an update breaks a mod. On a modded server, this criterion matters almost as much as RAM.
Is Anti-DDoS protection necessary for a Hytale server?
Once the server is public or advertised on Discord, yes. UDP is exposed to floods, and attacks often land on event nights. For a private server among friends, the standard protection is usually enough.
How much does a Hytale server cost per month in the UK?
Prices depend on the plan and its RAM, so check the pricing page for the current figure. Fly-Serv has no minimum term. Discounts run from -5% to -20% depending on the length you choose.
Can you host a Hytale server for free on your own PC?
Yes: you need Java 25 and a forwarded UDP port on your router. The trade-off is that your IP is exposed, the PC has to stay on and your upload speed limits the player count. It's fine for testing, rarely for a community.
Launching your Hytale server
Before ordering, write down how many players you expect at peak times and list your mods. Start with the RAM that matches your expected peak player count and mod list, then adjust after a week of real use. Then pick your plan on the Hytale server hosting page, and your server will be online in under a minute.
