How to join a The Front server?

Joining a The Front game takes a few seconds… when everything lines up. Between the packed public list and the private server that never shows up, it's best to know both paths. Here's how to connect for sure, public or private, and why some connections fail for no apparent reason.
Path 1: the server browser
From the multiplayer menu, open the server browser. Each line shows name, mode (PvE or PvP), connected players and ping. Filter on ping to avoid lag, select, click Join, and enter the password if the admin protected it. Handy for public play, finicky for finding a specific server in the crowd.
Path 2: the direct IP:port connection
For a private server hiding in the list, the direct connection never misses:
- Ask the administrator for the address and port, in IP:port format.
- Paste the full address into the direct-connect option of the multiplayer menu.
- Enter the password if needed, then confirm.
Then add the server to your favorites: you find it in one click every session, without digging through the list again.
Why "unable to connect"?
- Version mismatch: client and server must be on the same patch: relaunch the update.
- Server full: wait for a slot to free up.
- Wrong IP or port: one digit off and the connection fails.
- Server offline: a self-hosted server on a powered-off PC becomes unreachable, the most frequent case.
Half of the "it won't connect" issues don't come from you: they come from a host server that's powered off or without a fixed address. 24/7 hosting makes the problem disappear.
Crossing over: host your own
Once you've tasted your own community, there's no going back. A Fly-Serv The Front server gives you a fixed address to share, 24/7 availability and included Anti-DDoS, from €7.99/month on a Ryzen 9 7950X3D. To get started, follow How to create a The Front server, then choose your configuration.
